Recent Government/Regulatory News & Updates ~~Florida--The lobbying groups representing both IDAF and F/AIA have proposed language to define "supervisory control" for their respective represented professions. Through a cooperative effort between the two groups combined with support from legislators this issue is receiving positive responses.
In respect to those who have long served our professions, IDAF and F/AIA lobbying groups have worked closely to pursue this language and this also appears to be receiving positive responses.
IDAF had proposed "contract administration" for interior designers and offered support to F/AIA for their pursuit of similar language for architects. IDAF's lobbying group was notified by F/AIA's lobbyist of their intent not to pursue this issue for this session. To avoid confusion with the legislators, IDAF has temporarily withdrawn language.
IDAF submitted language, as reviewed by the BOAID last year, to restrict space planning to licensed individuals due to the possibility of harm to the public as a result of systems furniture layouts by non-licensed persons or firms. IDAF has met with heavy opposition to this change from F/AIA's lobbyist. IDAF will continue to pursue this language to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public.
