Jacksonville's City Center offered "Wood – The Natural Choice" on
February 27th 2007. We had a great turnout of designers.
In the course, we learned from Theresa Yarling of Geiger International about the inherent qualities of wood veneer, the seven most important considerations when specifying veneer and how to identify woods natural markings. She showed us an animated tour of a veneer mill so we could see how logs are processed from the forest to the end product. We got to see samples of many different species including some beautifully figured woods and unique exotics and she discussed the performance characteristics of the commonly specified veneers and review the design possibilities through lay-up and cutting methods.
